Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS) Procedure

The Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS) system is a rights protection mechanism adopted by ICANN to provide a quick and cost-effective process for handling clear-cut cases of trademark infringement in domain names.

ResellerCamp, as an ICANN-accredited registrar, fully complies with the URS Rules (effective February 2024) and the URS Technical Requirements.

How URS Works

If a complaint is filed through an ICANN-approved URS Provider (such as the Forum or MFSD), and the disputed domain name is registered through ResellerCamp, the following steps will be taken:

  1. Receipt of Complaint
    • Once we receive an official URS notice from a URS Provider, our Compliance Team verifies the request within 24 hours.
  2. Domain Lock
    • The domain will be locked within 24 hours, preventing transfer, deletion, or modification during the URS proceeding.
  3. Registrant Notification
    • The Registered Name Holder (RNH) will be notified immediately via email about the complaint and informed of their right to respond within the timeframe set by URS Rules.
  4. Decision Implementation
    • If the URS Panel decides in favor of the complainant, we will suspend the domain’s DNS resolution and display a standard URS suspension notice page as required by ICANN.
    • If the complaint is denied, the lock will be removed, and the domain will be restored to normal status.
  5. Restoration and Case Closure
    • If the complaint is withdrawn, dismissed, or settled, the domain will be unlocked and restored within two (2) business days.
  6. Record Retention
    • All URS-related communications, logs, and actions are recorded and securely retained for a minimum of two (2) years, in line with ICANN’s requirements.
